LionsXII head coach Fandi Ahmad credited PDRM FA goalkeeper Badrulzaman Halim for his match-winning performance after a 2-1 defeat to the Cops.
The Singapore side had dominated the entire game and created a ton of chances, but Badrulzaman repeatedly stood in their way to ensure PDRM took home the three points.
“Of course we are very disappointed,” Fandi said after the game. “We had so many chances in the second half.”
“I thought the boys did very very well in second half. We created the chances and for me, the keeper (Badrulzaman) is the man of the match because he saved four or five clear goals.
“Sometimes that’s football; we played well but sometimes the result doesn’t come your way. But we are happy with the performance.”
The LionsXII will be facing Kelantan FA next on 4 July at the Jalan Besar Stadium in a rematch of the FA Cup final.
Fandi hopes that the team will not suffer any further injuries before that, especially after losing Safuwan to concussion in the game, while Zulfahmi Arifin was ruled out with an injury.
“We hope there’s no more injuries because before the game we lost Zulfahmi who had an ankle injury,” Fandi stated.
“We also lost Safuwan to concussion today, and we have about a week to prepare.
“We have to revitalise ourselves, we hope to give them two days off after all the traveling and I hope we will be fresh for Kelantan game.”
